I recently did an internet search for “monkey selfie” and found that there seem to be multiple such things; the macaque one is just the most famous because the photographer wanted to make money from them. So I guess I can see the value in this sort of stance. But “divine or supernatural beings”? “… the Office cannot register a work purportedly created by divine or supernatural beings…” Is this an issue that there needs to be a rule to address? Gotta admit I’m lost on why that is in there.
Like the monkey and typewriters joke, by the way…
I am guessing someone tried to copyright the Bible, and they immediately tried to put a hold there, to avoid difficult questions.
Quite interesting! I always thought that this photo was a serendipitous occasion where the photographer was able to get a photo of a smiling animal, not an actual selfie. Make you wonder…
